Ok so over the past weekend I had the Gencon Socal convention to go to and work at. Let's just say that the whole thing was a mix of wonderful and extremely upsetting. Let's start with the wonderful first shall we?
Wonderful: I finally got to see Rob again. As soon as I got off the plane and passed through the doorway that was seperating the gates from baggage claim I saw him, standing against a wall with one of our friends, IQ. (IQ are his initials and thus forth what we call him rather than his actual name). Of course I ran over to him and gave him the biggest hug ever. After the initial "omg I can finally hold him again" effect wore off, we waited for my bag to come through on the little turn-around thing, which luckily wasn't very long. From there we loaded up in the car and headed to the convention center in Anaheim, California.
Overall the convention was rather empty which I found kinda weird considering how big everyone was always saying it was going to be. Anyways, skip ahead to the end of the convention (yea that's where all the frustration is -.-') By the end of the convention I had worked enough to get 12 boxes of the Inuyasha TCG and from those boxes pulled a rather good amount of the harder to obtain cards which if I want to sell I probably could for a decent amount of cash. We, Rob, IQ, Matt and I, played in the Team Challenge for the Yu Yu Hakusho TCG and placed 3rd out of 20+ teams. We should have gotten 1st but *shrugs* stupid mistakes happen. For 3rd place unfortuately we do not receive any money. We do however receive a copy of every tournament set ever printed. That will sell nicely $_$ lol.
Once everything was packed up, we stayed and hung out for another day or two as just the 4 of us. It was rather nice. Unfortunately on the day I flew back home, Rob was starting to get sick

and currently he still is. I've been trying to take care of him online by trying to get him to stay inside, drink lots of water, etc (you know, the typical things you're told when you're sick), but the people he lives with are having him continue to do chores which aren't helping his condition. *sighs* ah well, hopefully he'll get better soon anyways. It was so great to see him again though. Can't wait to see him again during Megacon in late February. So, now onto the Frustrating...
Frustrating: I ran a tournament on Thursday with Matt for the Inuyasha TCG. The tournament was going great, rulings were simple, despite the fact that people didn't like that IQ's deck could win in a single turn. It comes down to the final round: IQ against a guy named Paul that I know. Paul also doesn't like the fact that IQ's deck works the way it does. So instead of talking to Matt or I, the judges for the event, he talks to the game designer, who since he's not running the tournament isn't supposed to say anything about what's going on. Even better though, the judges are supposed to sit next to the final round's game so that we can see what's going on and be there for questions. The game's designer decides that he's gonna take my seat and sit next to Paul. -.-' So anyways, the game designer decides that he's gonna change a ruling in the middle of it so that it works to Paul's favor. He shouldn't technically be allowed to do this since rules have to be in print for them to take effect, but we, as judges for the event, no matter how hard we tried to argue it with him, could not get the ruling to not go through. So in the end, IQ and Paul ended up getting a draw offered to them, which they accept after a long discussion. This means that they both get $750 rather than $1000 for 1st place and $500 for 2nd. This upset me greatly because he bypassed what we were there for and changed things in the middle of the tournament, best part about it though, after I wrote up a statement using the best legal stuff that I could, the game designer and Paul walk off together to go party. Of course we have no way of proving whether colusion happened or not though and all the game designer ended up getting for all this was "a stern talking to" when he got back to work. *sighs*
The next frustration: stupid mistakes during Team Challenge, enough said. Next, I had to leave Rob. I miss him so much. Last frustration: this guy on the Inuyasha TCG message boards decides that he's gonna try to insult the judges and how we ran the tournament just because he doesn't like how it turned out. He sat there saying that we should have changed rulings to make the deck not work and that we were abusing our power by allowing it to be used in the tournament when the deck itself was perfectly legal when compared to all the rules of the game. Some people are just so stupid. So, onto...
